Morocco’s annual consumer price inflation rose to 2.1% in January from 1.8% in December due to higher food and non-food prices, the High Planning Authority said on Wednesday, Reuters reported. Annual food inflation rose to 2.8% from 2.5% the previous month. Non-food price inflation rose to 2.6% in the year to January, up from 1.4% in December. Communications costs fell 0.2%, but transportation was 3.6% more expensive, the agency said. On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index rose to 0.2% in January, from 0.1% in December as non-food price inflation rose to 0.4%, up from 0.1%.
