Iran’s karate delegation left for Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on Tuesday to participate in the World Karate 1 Premier League.
A team of 25 men and women will take part in the event slated for March 16-18, Mehr News Agency reported.
In men’s individual kumite, Amir Reza Mirzaei, Bahman Asgari, Ali Asghar Asiabari, Ebrahim Hassan-Beigi, Zabihollah Poursheib, Mehdi Khodabakhshi, Mehdi Ghararizadeh, Ali Fadakar, Keyvan Baban, Sajjad Ganjzadeh, Salleh Abazari, Saman Heidari and Abolfazl Shahrjerdi form the Iran team.
Amir Bahodor Tadayon will be the only karateka for Iran’s male kata at the event.
Nasrin Dousti, Sara Bahmanyar, Avishan Baqeri, Taravat Khaksar, Fatemeh Chalaki, Rozita Alipour, Mobina Kaviani, Mahtab Esmaeili, Hamideh Abbasali, Mohaddeseh Aqaei and Negin Baqeri constitute Iran’s women kumite team. They will also participate in individual female kata division.
Total entries for the event are 683 karatekas from 74 nations.
The Karate1 Premier League is the most important league event in the world of karate. It comprises a number of the most prominent karate competitions and endeavors to bring together the best karate athletes in the world in an open championship of unprecedented scale and quality.
Initiated in 2011, the 2018 edition is formed by seven events being held in the cities of Paris, Dubai, Rotterdam, Rabat, Istanbul, Berlin and Tokyo, demonstrating arate’s impact across the world.
