Digital transmitters for radio and television channels set up by Barakat Foundation in the underdeveloped towns of Dezful, Behbahan, Bagh-e Malek, and Andika in Khuzestan Province were inaugurated in the presence of Aref Norouzi, the foundation’s managing director. “The transmitters will provide coverage for 20 television and 16 radio channels,” said Moslem Rahimi, director general of Khuzestan’s Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) center, who was also present at the ceremony, IRNA reported.
The new transmitters will accommodate 100,000 local residents increasing the digital coverage of Khuzestan to 92%.
Barakat Foundation, an organization dedicated to creating entrepreneurs, building schools, and infrastructural development in remote regions, is affiliated to Setad or the Headquarters for Executing the Decrees of Imam Khomeini. It has implemented several developmental projects in the lesser developed regions of the country since 2007.
