Nearly 150,000 divorces are recorded annually of which only 10% of women remarry, whereas the remarriage rate for men is 90%, said Morteza Mirbagheri, deputy of cultural and social affairs at the ministry of interior.
At present, there are 2.5 million female breadwinners facing many obstacles in matrimony, he said, quoted by ISNA.
“With 3.5 million unemployed, half a million in prison, and half a million road accidents, we appeal to civic organizations to cooperate with the government in tackling social hurdles,” he said at the “Analysis of Iran’s Social and Cultural Situation Conference,” hosted by Payam-e Nour University of Bojnourd.
