A new fleet of 200 two-cabin buses and 20 subway trains will enter the capital's public transport system in the coming weeks, said Jaffar Tashakkori Hashemi, traffic deputy at the Tehran Municipality (TM). "Each bus has the capacity to carry 2,000 and each train 25,000 passengers a day," he was quoted by Mehr News Agency as saying. The new buses meet Euro IV standards and will be assigned to various BRT (Bus Rapid Transport) routes across Tehran with a priority for southern districts. They will increase Tehran's transport capacity by 20%.
